Birmingham Pride is delighted to confirm HSBC UK as its lead sponsor for 2019. The event, which takes place on 25th and 26th May in Birmingham city centre, is expected to attract more than 75,000 people. This is the third year running that HSBC UK is lead sponsor.
Birmingham Pride is the UK’s largest two-day LGBTQ festival. It has taken place for more than 20 years, and in the last five years it has raised more than £300,000 for local community groups. It is a not for profit organisation, and profits raised go to local LGBTQ charities and projects.
HSBC UK, which opened the doors of its new, green UK headquarters in Birmingham’s Centenary Square this past fall, will be the headline sponsor for the entire festival this year.
Lawrence Barton, Birmingham Pride's Festival Director, said: "We are really looking forward to working with the HSBC UK team again for this year’s Birmingham Pride. We’d like to thank HSBC UK for their continued support, which helps great social projects and causes across the city. Over the last five years it has raised more than £300,000 for local community groups and LGBTQ charities and projects. HSBC UK has been particularly proactive in making our working relationship a year round partnership as well as their significant involvement during the course of the festival weekend itself.
“This year’s theme is 'Love Out Loud' which is particularly significant in its timing and is an unashamed celebration of people’s uniqueness and of their love, and their right to be who they are, and love who they want, without fear of prejudice or hate - regardless of their gender, sexuality, colour, religion or sexual identity. After all love is love."
Ian Stuart, CEO HSBC UK commented: “We’re exceptionally proud to have our new headquarters in the Midlands, and equally proud to continue our support of Birmingham Pride – an important recognition of the huge amount of work that has been done to improve the inclusion of all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals from all backgrounds. We take pride in driving inclusion in and championing diversity in all its forms, and we work hard to make HSBC a place where people feel they can be themselves, and where our workforce is as diverse as the customers we serve.
“We’re especially honoured to be leading out the parade this year, with more than 200 employees and their friends and families expected to participate in what promises to be a fantastic weekend.”
